Theoden Rides Against Mass Formation Psychosis – The Garrett Ashley Mullet Show
Consider with me if you will four things which may not seem at first blush as though they would all go together, yet can and probably should right now.
Wars of Attrition
First, four out of five Americans recently reported in a poll conducted by the Trafalgar Group and Convention of States Action that they believe the U.S. is in “a state of decay,” Not the Bee reports.
Next, and on a related note, check out this viral song by Canadian Christian artist Matt Brevner titled ‘More of Us’ released the day before Ontario went back into lockdown. Brevner may be chiefly concerned with his home country of maple syrup and hockey – and that is proper – but he is not just singing for the citizens of Ontario.
From there, consider this segment from Kim Iversen at The Hill laying out a theory called ‘Mass Formation Psychosis’ to explain the rapid, widespread, and long-term acquiescence to lockdowns, mask and vaccine mandates and other draconian measures which have been imposed on men, women, and children across the country and world.
Lastly – and this one may admittedly seem oddly placed amidst the others – give a listen to J.R.R. Tolkien reading the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, also known as the Ride of the Rohirrim, from the Lord of the Rings. And imagine with me if you can what the heroism and leadership of Théoden might look like in our context. I dare say it is a pleasant thought.
Riding to Ruin
Like so many siege towers and catapults and battering rams, these assaults on our lives and liberties the past two years may appear as though they will carry the day – or have already carried it.
Yet how can we know whether a valiant cavalry charge down the throat of the onslaught might break what seems unbreakable? We cannot know unless we maintain hope and steel our courage and straighten our backs and spur on our mount.
For my part, I say it is good to look on this gleaming white city on the hill nestled in the side of the mountain, and to love it enough to ride to its rescue. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
